As such he was enriched by Spocks dispassionate analytic mind, bolstered by McCoy’s unyielding love of all life, his compassion and caring. Kirk is the balance point between his friends often dualing personalities. He received friendship, loyalty unbounded, and wisdom and insights unknown for anyone person. Both friends are equally unique and held in the same amount of unmatched love and esteem. Spock did have emotions. In the Stand for the flag kneel for the cross Pittsburgh Steelers new design shirt moreover I will buy this specific case of Spock, he was half-Vulcan, half-Human. Because he faced prejudice over it, he was extremely concerned with showing himself to be a true Vulcan and to prove that his human blood didnt make him less than other Vulcans. Earlier in Star Treks history, it was often believed in-Universe that Vulcans were emotionless but they never were, as was later shown. In fact, suppressing their emotions tended to mean that the Pon Farr was awful; imagine seven years-worth of PMS, all at once. AS for why he was well-liked, I cant answer for everyone but I liked him because he felt relatable. He struggled for acceptance among people who didnt understand him and I think thats something a lot of us can empathize with. Balance of Terror was the first TOS episode that had classic good v. evil in the form of an enemy that could threaten all humanity. The action was well scripted and the lead characters impressive. Thrown into this good and evil battle was an inner battle within the cause of good. Racism and bigotry is dealt with head on by a human leader that has a no tolerance policy, demands compliance, and confronts even micro aggressions head on. This episode represented what was good about the future. The episode also clearly outlined the dangers of new adventures in space and how even the best intended efforts of man could be crippled if we let flaws like prejudice affect our decision making. The respect for the tactics of the enemy also brought the viewer to empathize with the enemy, a plot line not always included in good v evil sci-fi dramas.
